Africa’s Healthcare Future needs Private Sector Investment and Self-Reliance
Africa’s healthcare system is at a pivotal moment. For decades, the continent has relied heavily on international donor funding, particularly from organisations like USAID and the World Health Organization (WHO), to sustain critical health programs. However, recent geopolitical shifts, such as the US withdrawal from the WHO and the freezing of USAID funds, have exposed the fragility of this dependency. These developments underscore an urgent need for Africa to take charge of its healthcare destiny through increased private sector investment and innovative solutions.
